Safety concerns

29/11/2013

Lately, there has been an increase in parents driving into the staff car park to collect children as well as parents and children walking out through the double car park gates when either entering or exiting the school grounds. As parents have been previously advised, only school staff and authorised parents have permission to enter and park. We understand that parking is at a premium but we ask that you not enter the car park. If children observe their parents disobeying the rules/regulations, then they will possibly think that it is acceptable/appropriate to not do what they are asked to do.

At all times, we ask that children and parents use the supervised crossing over Wuth Street at the front of the school. Even though using the crossing may mean that you have to go out of the way a little bit, in the long term, as the old saying goes, 'It is better to be safe than sorry!' There would be nothing worse than to have an accident (that could have been avoided if the road safety rules had been followed) in the lead up to the Christmas vacation. We have been advised by the Queensland Police Service that there will be an increased police presence across school in the lead-up to the end of the school year.

Thanking all parents in anticipation of their valued support and co-operation in ensuring that nobody drives into the staff car park without authorization and that entering/exiting the school grounds is through the appropriate gates. Please feel free to contact Mr Allan Bagley (Deputy Principal) on (07) 4636 8333.
